Previous received opinion, namely that aluminium had weak thermal insulation properties and was prone to condensation problems has long since been refuted. Thanks to thermal breaking of aluminium profiles by means of PVC-U insulating bars, aluminium systems are every bit as good as systems using other materials.

With a Ufvalue (heat transition coefficient of the window) of 1.4, the AWS 75.SI (SI = Super Insulation) system achieves the same thermal insulation values as PVC-U and timber.
