In the motorcycle instrument industry, electronic tachometers are widely used to replace the traditional mechanical tachometer nowadays, but the popular used moving-coil tachometer will be oscillating due to resonance, and worse more, its damping oil will leak, as a result, its lifetime is reduced dramatically.

 

Using cross-coil (moving-magnet) to drive the pointer, WX-DC-01 electronics tachometer movement does not have the annoying oscillating. Using the patented separate damping oil container, it almost eliminates the fatal oil leakage and a long life time is accomplished.

 

Besides, WX-DC-01 movement uses on-board MCU to sample the input signal and to drive the cross-coil, and can be adapted to different scale panels with software. Multiple points in the measuring range can be optimized independently to reach high accuracy and linearity. WX-DC-01 has true wide deflection angle to be more than 270o. It can work properly from 11VDC to 15VDC, and even can work for a while as high as 100V without damage, which means it can still work when motorcycle loses both battery and regulator, and only magneto works. In this case, the magneto will produce high fluctuating voltage power. WX-DC-01 fits the instruments once using the popular moving-coil movement.

Note1: it can still work below 11 and high than 7V, but the accuracy can not be assured; it can work higher than 15V for a while without damage, but the voltage variance should be less than 5V/s.

Note2: the pulse width in the peak voltage should be less than 500us.

 

Wiring harness

Black wire: positive of DC power supply

Green wire: DC return of power supply

Yellow/Black wire: input signal

All the above three wires have the length more than 110mm and diameter 2mm. One metal plug(diameter 3.5mm) for each wire in the other end.
