Since the HID bulb is 35w but the original halogen bulb is 55w, when an HID kit of 35w is installed into the car, the car ECU will detect the bulbs are running at 35w instead of the normal 55w.In this case, the following two situations would happen

1.    when detecting the bulb is running at 35w, the ECU would think the bulb has broken and then cut down the power it sends to the headlight. Since without enough power, the HID light begins to flicker.

2.    It also will cause a headlight error light on the dash when it thinks one side of the headlight has broken.

But the canbus is clever that it will lead the ECU to think the HID light is running at 55w though it is actually running at 35w. Then the ECU find both side of the headlight are working fine and will send the headlights full power to run as usual, which get rid of the flickering issue and error light issue. Of course, this canbus ballast is safe and will not damage any ECU or electrical wiring.
