The compensator is composed of the following structural members: a work bellow or two work bellows connected by medium tube, a balancing bellow, elbow or yoke, head, tie rod, end plate, spherical and conical washers, mainly used to absorb axial and horizontal composite displacement and balance the pressure and thrust force of bellow. The front part of expansion joint (transmission end) is equipped with a balancing bellow structure. Work bellow absorbs horizontal displacement caused by elbow section, while balancing bellow absorbs axial displacement caused by direct tube section; when the elbow section produces horizontal displacement, the spherical nut on the tie bar may rotate along the concave gasket and meanwhile the tie bar shall bear internal pressure and thrust force, therefore, the expansion joint is usually used at exit of pump, tank, compressor, steam turbine and so on to eliminate the action force to the above equipment.
