Tannic acid is extracted from the pods of tara or Chinese Nut-gall.
Main composition: The main composition is hydrolysable tannins. It is the compounds combining galloyl and quinic acid.
Properties: Yellowish to light brown color amorphous powder. This product easily dissolves in water, alcohol and acetone, but not in ethoxyethane, benzene and chloroform. It is easily oxidized in the sunlight.
