The size of the graphite blocks and the passage diameters vary according to the application and type of graphite chemical equipment concerned. Several graphite blocks are assembled to form a graphite column, which provides the required heat transfer area in a single unit. The graphite blocks are arranged in such a way that the product passages aligns with one another. As a result, corrosive medium flows through the axial passages. The service medium in the steel or graphite shell space passes through the horizontal passages. A flexible baffle cage produces forced flow deflection on the service side.
