Tungsten disulfide WS2 is a compound of tungsten and sulfide, black powder, insoluble in water and organic solvents, reacting with neither acid nor alkali besides the mixture of thick nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid.

 

As a solid lubricant, tungsten disulfide is better than molybdenum disulfide. Its lubrication characteristics are as follows:

Low friction coefficient (0.03), anti-pressure and anti-oxidation (in air decompose at 4500 C and completely at 6500 C; in vacuum decompose at 11000 C and completely at 20000 C). It can be used at high temperature, high pressure, high vacuum, high load, high rotating speed, ultra-low temperature, high radiation and corrosion conditions.Strong absorbability on metal surface. It can be added into plastic to make lubricant or mixed with volatility oil and spray on the surface of mould to prolong the lifetime of mould and increase the degree of finish.Tungsten disulfide powder can composed with oil or tallow to form lubrication oil , ointment, wax or other solid lubrication block and membrane.

 

Besides above, tungsten disulfide can be used as catalyst in petrochemical industry with high cracking ability, longevity, as well as credible and stable catalytic activity.
