In operation, the fine ore flows in the water while the coarse ore sinks in the water. This is made possible because different grains have different sedimentation rates and different gravity. This makes them drop at different speeds. Filtering can be carried out and the coarse materials are sent to the feeding mouth while the fine materials are discharged by spiral pushing through the pipe.
