Molecular formula: Cr(NO3)3 .9H2O

Molecular weight: 400.148

Physicochemical properties:

1) Chromium nitrate exists anhydrous variety and couples of hydrates

2) A little green powder while the common nonahydrate is a purple crystal of monoclinic system

3) It will be dissolved in crystal water itself at temperature of 66.3°C or
boil and decompose at 125.5°C

4) The hydrate chromium nitrate is likely to lose some crystal water due to weather in the air. In turn, it is subject to deliquescence

5) The nonahydrate chromium nitrate can be easily dissolved in water, acids, alkalis, alcohols and acetone

6) Application and usage: the major applications of chromium nitrate include preparation of other inorganic or organic chromium, catalysts and carrier materials, corrosion inhibitors and dye mordant as well as colorant in glass industry and colored glaze of ceramics.
