Klixon TOPRO 6AP1 bimetal thermal protectors are mainly used for overcurrent and overtemperature protection of low voltage DC motor in automotive parts. The bimetal disc senses both heat and current from the equipment which 6AP1 is installed on. When the temperature of the disc reaches a predetermined calibration point, the disc snaps open the contacts, thus breaking the current path. When the equipment returns to a normal operating range, the 6AP1 protector resets (closes circuit) automatically. 6AP1+PTC manual reset thermal protector includes a heating device on the basis of 6AP1 thermal protector for the situations where non-automatic reset motor protection is required and makes the protection more reliable and safer.
