Our matcha powder is made in China, free of rediation. For two to three weeks in early spring the tea plants are covered to induce shade that drives valuable nutrients into the leaf. Shade growing the tea plants also increases the amino acid L-theanine in the tea leaf. The earliest spring leaves are then harvested and stone ground producing a tea that energizes and relaxes at the same time. The powder is then mixed with hot water and whisked into a frothing oxygenated beverage. This is one of the most amazing things about drinking matcha: you feel totally alert and yet totally relaxed simultaneously!

When you drink matcha you consume the leaves, unlike other green teas. For this reason matcha contains, by volume, higher concentrations of catechins and vitamins.
