The speedlite softbox works like a strobe softbox which diffuse and soften light produced by the flashlight

A flashlight with standard hot shoe(Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Olympus) is installed behind the softbox. Light produced by the flashlight are reflected by the softbox's internal reflective surface and diffuser and soften by the translucent cloth in front. As a result, the light produced are soft and even light across your subject.
