Thrust ball bearings is separable bearing which can be separated into single row and double row. Single row thrust ball bearings can take axial load from one direction while double row thrust ball bearings can take axial load from both directions. None of them can take redial load.

There is thrust ball bearings with washer structure which has self aligning features to reduce the effect of mis-aligning after mounting because it has a spherical washer in the mounting side.

This type of bearing is mainly applied in automotive, machine tools.
