It is produced according to the SY/T 5092-2002 of oil and natural gas of China.

SMC is lignite which comes from the alkalization and sulfonation with chromium salt. It is used as viscosity breaking agent and fluid loss agent in fresh water drilling fluid, and it is good in thormstability.
