Safflower Yellow is extracted from Carthamus Tinctorius L., of the Dendranthema family. The pigment mainly consists of carthamus.
Properties: The pigment easily dissolves in water but not in fat solvent. Its yellow solution adjusts steadily in PH 2---7, becoming slight red in alkaline. The pigment’s resistance to light, heat, microbes and salt is high. It is very hygroscopic in the air, and applicable to coloring drinks,ice-cream,food,medicine and cosmetics. The pigment has been formulated to a national standard (standard number GB5716-85).
