The default search direction is from the selected item in the list to the end of the list. . The search criteria remain in effect until changed or cleared, so be sure to clear the fields in the Search and Replace dialog box after completing search activities. To open the Search and Replace dialog box: 1 From the Insertion List window, select Search. The Search and Replace dialog box is displayed. 2 From the Step list box, select the step type. This enables options and data fields that correspond to the selected step type. 3 If, after selecting the step type, any of the option buttons are enabled, select the desired option. . Continuity: Searches only selected step types that are not defined as no continuity, ignore continuity, or bypass. . No Continuity: Searches only selected step types that are defined as no continuity steps. . Ignore Continuity: Searches only selected step types that are defined as ignore continuity steps. . Bypass: Searches only selected step types that are bypassed. . All: Searches all selected step types regardless of whether they are defined as no continuity, ignore continuity, or bypass. 4 Enter the search criteria in the enabled data entry fields. 5 Go to the Search and Replace Controls topic for descriptions of how to begin the search. Search and Replace Controls Use the dialog box controls to perform search and replace tasks. The following search controls are available. . Backward Search (checkbox): When selected and any other search control button is selected, locates the next item toward the top of the list that matches the search criteria. When cleared (default) and any other search control button is selected, locates the next item toward the bottom of the list that matches the search criteria. . Clear (button): Removes all data from the Search and Replace fields. . Cancel (button): Closes the Search and Replace dialog box and returns to the Steps window. . Search (button): Locates the next item in the list that matches the criteria entered in the Search fields. When Search is selected, the Search and Replace dialog box shrinks so that the search and replace controls and at least part of the list are displayed at the same time. Maximize Button A message appears when there are no more items that match the search criteria. To alter or refine the search or replace criteria without clearing all the data, select the Maximize button at the right of the Search and Replace title bar. . Replace (button): Locates the next item in the list that matches the search criteria and replaces the current data with data in the Replace fields. . Replace All (button): Replaces all current data in the list that matches the search criteria with data in the Replace fields. . Replace Selected (button): Locates the next selected item in the list that matches the search criteria and replaces the current data with data in the Replace fields. . Select All (button): Selects all items in the list that match the search criteria. Options Use the Options menu bar heading to select additional features for using the Steps window. The following features are available. . Insert . Sort . Overview Insert Use the Insert option to define whether moved or added steps are inserted above or below the designated step in the steps list. To define the insert step choice: 1. From the Steps window: Options > Insert A second pulldown menu is displayed. . Select Above to move the highlighted steps above a selected step in the insertion order. All subsequent steps numbers are adjusted accordingly. . Select Below to move the highlighted steps below a selected step in the insertion order. This is the default choice. All subsequent steps numbers are adjusted accordingly. A checkmark visible in front of the menu option indicates the choice. Once an insert choice is selected, it does not have to be selected again except to change the choice. The choice remains selected until the Product Editor is closed. Sort Use the Sort option to define the order of any selected sort of the steps list. To define the sort choice: 1. From the Steps window: Options > Sort A second pulldown menu is displayed. . Select Ascending to perform any selected sort of the steps list in ascending order. This is the default choice. . Select Descending to perform any select sort of the steps list in descending order. A checkmark visible in front of the menu option indicates the choice. Once the sort choice is selected, it does not have to be selected again except to change the choice. The choice remains selected until the Steps window is closed. Overview Use the Overview option to display a thumbnail graphical overview of the entire steps list in the far-right side of the window. This features shows where the steps currently displayed are located in relation to the rest of the pattern. A checkmark visible in front of the menu option indicates that the Overview option is active. To display the graphical overview: 1. From the Steps window: Options > Overview The Steps window with the overview shown is displayed. Changes To This Revision New part number.
